
Toyota has begun exporting Corollas built at its Mississippi plant for the first time.
The company said in a statement it plans to ship 7,500 Corollas this year to 18 countries in central and South America and the Caribbean.
Nine US-assembled Toyota models from all four of the company’s US vehicle assembly plants are now exported to 32 countries around the world.
Toyota’s US exports in 2013 totalled more than 130,000 units – a 5% increase from the previous year and an all-time high for the company.
Toyota, which began exporting US-assembled vehicles in 1988, said it expects its export volume to grow as the global automotive market improves.
