
Toyota’s Blue Springs, Mississippi plant, once mothballed while the automaker dithered over what to make there after the 2007 financial crash, has now built its 500,000th Corolla sedan since the plant finally opened in 2011.
In 2014, Toyota Mississippi produced about 180,000 Corollas.

Since 1986, over 21m Toyotas have been US built and the automaker claims that, including dealers and suppliers, it has created 365,000 jobs.
Toyota’s local presence is felt by those in Northeast Mississippi through substantial economic investment, employment, philanthropic efforts and environmental responsibility.
Blue Springs and its Mississippi-based suppliers created around 3,700 jobs and spent $1.26bn in the state.
