Takata Corporation says it will buy BAE Systems safety products and Schroth safety products businesses from BAE Systems for a cash consideration of around US$32m.

The businesses include operations in Pompano Beach, Florida, as well as Arnsberg, Germany and employ around 150 people in the design and manufacture of occupant restraints and safety products used in commercial, defence ground and aerospace platforms.

The purchase of the safety products and Schroth businesses is conditional, among other things, upon receiving regulatory approvals and is expected to close during the first quarter of 2012.
