After formalising its alliance with Fiat, Chrysler has  announced a new “leaner, flatter” organisational structure “intended to restore brand promise and dealer confidence”.


The new Chrysler Group’s organisation is based on a global brand-focused structure comprised of the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge and Mopar brands, each with full profit and loss accountability. Common commercial, industrial and corporate functions have been put in place to support the development, manufacture, distribution and sale of products and parts by the various brands, Chrysler said.


Jim Press, vice chairman and president the ‘old’ Chrysler has been named deputy CEO and special advisor, reporting to new CEO Sergio Marchionne.


Peter Fong was named president and CEO, Chrysler brand, with full profit and loss responsibility for the Chrysler product line. He will also head sales company-wide. Fong was previously the director of the mid-Atlantic business centre.


Michael Manley is now president and CEO of Jeep and heads group product planning. Manley previously headed international sales and global product planning.

Michael Accavitti is president and CEO of Dodge and head of marketing. He previously headed Dodge brand marketing.


Pietro Gorlier heads Mopar service & parts and customer services as well as Chrysler’s customer service operations.


He joins Chrysler from Fiat Auto and CNH, where he most recently headed the dealer network.


Joe ChamaSrour remains president and CEO of Chrysler de Mexico and Reid Bigland continues as president & CEO, Chrysler Canada.


Steven Landry, who headed North American sales and marketing and global service and parts is to retire but has offered to assist the new company in the transition.


Chrysler also named Peter Grady to head network development and fleet operations, reporting to Marchionne. Grady was previously director of franchise planning and administration.


Scott Kunselman will head product engineering in place of Frank Klegon who is retiring. Kunselman previously headed truck development.


Ralph Gilles continues as product design chief and Frank Ewasyshyn remains in charge of manufacturing.


Doug Betts continues as head of quality control and Scott Garberding in charge of purchasing.


Michael Keegan has been named head of supply chain management. He was previously head of volume planning and sales operations.


Richard Palmer, also joining from Fiat Auto, is chief financial officer and replaces Ron Kolka who will head the wind-down of the ‘old’ Chrysler LLC.


Jan Bertsch remains in charge of information technology and Nancy Rae will continue as head of human resources organization as Executive Vice President. Holly Leese remains head of legal services.


Gualberto Ranieri, in charge of communications, is another transfer from Fiat Group, where he headed international communications.


Laurie Macaddino has been named audit chief after previously heading finance operations while John Bozzella remains in charge of external affairs.


Barb Pilarski, previously head of mergers & acquisitions, NAFTA and South America, is now in charge of business development.


Mark Chernoby was named executive coordinator and head of C/D segment product engineering.


More appointments would be announced later, Chrysler said.
