Porsche has reported that its sales in the US and Canada were down 12% in January.
In a statement the company said that in a difficult market environment it sold 2,718 cars. It expects sales to be boosted in coming months with the launch of the Cayenne GTS.
1,083 Cayennes were sold in January, a fall of 26%, but Porsche said this was mainly due to internal delivery issues. Because of uncertainty surronding the US economy, Porsche shipped more vehicles to growth markets such as China, Russia and the Middle East and not so many to North America.
779 Boxsters were sold, of which 550 were Cayman and Cayman S, a 13% increase on a year ago.
856 911s were delivered, 10% down on a year ago.
