It looks like the smart money is now on Ford CEO Alan Mulally staying at Ford through 2014 judging by reported remarks by Edsel Ford II made in Detroit last week.
Reports in recent weeks have suggested that Alan Mulally could be a candidate to head Microsoft, where there is a vacancy for the CEO position.
However, according to a number of sources, Edsel Ford II, great grandson of Henry Ford, has said that Alan Mulally would be staying at Ford through the end of 2014.
“Alan is staying through the end of 2014 and that’s all I know,” Ford II reportedly said. Speaking to Bloomberg TV, he reiterated the point. “Frankly, he has told us that his plan is to stay with Ford through the end of 2014.”
Ford’s directors haven’t pressed Mulally to make a public statement to clarify that he plans to stay with the automaker because he’s made his intentions clear to the company’s board, Edsel Ford II reportedly said.
