Mitsubishi Motors could manufacture the next generation of Galant Sedans from its plant in the US – ceasing production in Japan.

It may use the factory, in Normal, Illinois, as a global source for exports to Europe and Japan, according to Automotive News Europe.

A Mitsubishi spokesman neither confirmed nor denied the report to Automotive News Europe. If true, though, it would be in line with a previously announced change in Mitsubishi’s product strategy.

Mitsubishi spokesman Shingo Kimura said: “We have not decided on the specific plans. We are now conducting an evaluation of our product strategy.”
