Indian utility vehicle maker Mahindra & Mahindra is reportedly planning to enter the United States market via independent distributor, Global Vehicles USA of Alpharetta, Georgia.
According to auto trade newspaper Automotive News, Global Vehicles is asking dealers for a $US125,000 payment to apply for a franchise and plans, from October 2008, to sell a regular-cab pickup truck with 2.6-litre turbodiesel engine and the Scorpio SUV.
Automotive News noted that the company already sells farm equipment in the US.
It added that a former Mazda executive, William Goetze, is president of Global Vehicles.
