Johnson Controls will supply seats and other interior components for the 2007 Saturn Outlook.
This includes the innovative ‘smart slide’ second-row seat feature that enables quick, movement of the second-row seats to provide access to the third row. According to General Motors, this feature will be standard on all second-row configurations for the Saturn Outlook.
Through an array of pivot points, the second-row seat cushion flips up, while the seat back slides forward toward the front seats. Smart slide works independently on a 60/40 split bench seat, as well as captain’s chairs and the engineers say they have refined this system to achieve the lowest possible effort for easy, one-handed operation.
An additional benefit is four inches of fore-aft travel for the second-row, which can help accommodate long-legged passengers seated in either the second or third row, or for increased storage space.
Johnson Controls will supply overhead systems, door panels, instrument clusters and cargo-storage systems for the new Saturn which made its debut at the recent New York motor show.
