Hyundai Kia is recalling 35,185 2010 model year Soul and 2011 Sorento vehicles made from 7 September, 2009 to 30 July, 2010 and sold in the US.

NHTSA said on its website some wiring harnesses supplied by JCI and used for the lighting in the Soul’s advanced lighting speakers, located in the front door trim panels, and the Sorento’s interior accent illumination, located in the front and rear door trim panels, may have been improperly soldered.

When the lights are illuminated under certain conditions, an electrical short may occur that can result in a fire.

Dealers will replace the wiring harnesses in a recall campaign scheduled to start this month.
