Hyundai Motor America has sold its 500,000th vehicle in the US this year, the first time Hyundai has ever broken the 500,000 barrier and the highest number of cars it has ever sold there in a single year. The company expects to sell upwards of 530,000 vehicles this year, eclipsing the previous high of 467,009 achieved in 2007.
Sales of the Sonata – produced in Alabama – were up 64% over last year to the end of November.
Tucson SUV sales were up 145% for the year with the Genesis up 37% and Elantra up 22%. Santa Fe and Elantra are also built in the United States.
“Hyundai’s sales continue to climb as more consumers become aware of our great products, high quality, the industry’s best warranty, and improving dealership experience,” said sales chief Dave Zuchowski.
