Heated and cooled seat specialist Amerigon will change its name to Gentherm from 13 June and its share trading symbol from ARGN to THRM.
A special shareholders meeting on 5 September will approve an amendment to articles of incorporation to reflect the name change.
The symbol and name changes were made to better reflect the new capabilities and broader global reach following acquisition of a majority interest in German based WET Automotive Systems, president and CEO Daniel Coker said.
“We are a new company today as a result of the addition of WET and we have changed our name to reflect that,” Coker said. “We believe this is a very natural partnership, one that makes us a much larger company with a broader corporate reach, new products, new manufacturing capabilities and a new team of innovative, complementary engineers. We have always focused on thermal technologies, as has WET, but today we can offer a much wider range of products and services to our customers wherever they are situated.”
Amerigon, now trading as Gentherm until 12 June, makes other automotive products as well as heated and cooled seats. These include heated and cooled cup holders, thermal storage bins, heated steering wheels, cable systems and electronics.
