An explosion at General Motors’ Marion Metal Center in Indiana killed one worker employed by contractor Quaker Chemical Corporation, which provides inventory management and other contract services at the site, and injured several others.

“Right now our heartfelt sympathies, thoughts and prayers are with this employee’s family and the other injured workers and their families,” said Quaker’s chairman, CEO and president Michael Barry in a statement.

“We understand that GM has initiated an investigation, and we will work with GM and government agencies to understand what occurred.”
