General Motors on Tuesday (8 April) is expected to announce a US$450m spend on the two Michigan plants that make batteries for and build the Chevrolet Volt and Cadillac ELR hybrid-electrics.
According to the Wall Street Journal, the funding will be split between the Detroit-Hamtramck car assembly plant and the Brownstown Township factory, which produces batteries.
The money is expected to retain or create a total of 1,400 jobs, sources told the WSJ.
