Fuel Systems Solutions says it has received a Ship to Commerce (STC) decision from General Motors to start deliveries of bi-fuel pick-up trucks converted in its Union City, Indiana, OEM conversion centre, using Fuel Systems’ natural gas components.

“Obtaining GM’s decision to release the vehicles required the completion of an extensive development, testing, validation and approval process,” said Fuel Systems CEO, Mariano Costamagna. “We are proud of this accomplishment, which marks the commercial launch of bi-fuel pick-ups manufactured through our programme with GM.

“The availability of a fully-integrated OEM CNG bi-fuel solution is a market milestone establishing Fuel Systems as a technology leader in the fast evolving North American alternative fuels market, providing fleet customers with a pick-up option that meets rigorous performance standards.”

Additionally, Fuel Systems has secured a new 2013 contract from GM that expands the CNG product offering for this year to include both the regular (135-inch/3,429-mm) and extended (155-inch/3,937-mm) wheelbase lengths for the Express and Savana cargo vans.
