Ford is increasing its forecast for EcoBoost-powered F-150 pickups after sales exceeded expectations.
According to Doug Scott, truck group marketing manager, the carmaker had expected around 40% of F-150 pickups sold to private buyers would be powered by the EcoBoost engines.
It now expects 45% with the total number expected to reach 100,000 for 2011.
According to Scott, while the demand for EcoBoost-equipped F-150s exceeds production at present, the situation should be stabilised by late 2011 or the first quarter of 2012.
Sales of large pickup trucks at Ford grew 8% to 416,388 units for the first nine months of 2011.
While, the remaining two of the Detroit Three posted higher growth rates, Ford’s F-series was the runaway leader in the segment.
