Despite weekend newspaper reports suggesting the possible sale of Jaguar, either on its own or ‘bundled’ with Land Rover, Ford remains adamant that no steps have been taken towards disposing of the luxury brand.

According to local reports in Birmingham, UK, where three of the four Jaguar models are made, a few manufacturers are already eyeing Jaguar, amid talks it might be sold in a strategic review spearheaded by newly-appointed Ford ‘strategic adviser’ Kenneth Leet.

Russian car maker GAZ, which purchased Midlands-based van manufacturer LDV last week, and Hyundai have both been linked with a possible change of ownership of Jaguar, reported the Birmingham Post.

“All of this is speculation and we do not comment on speculation,” Jaguar spokesman Don Hume told just-auto.

“At this stage nothing has been suggested by Ford as a possibility, who said last night they are not about to divest Ford Motor Company or any parts of this business.”

Ford US spokesman Tom Hoyt added: “Our chairman Bill Ford said just a couple of weeks ago that there are no plans to sell any of our brands, but he also said we are looking at all areas of the business and that everything is on the table.”
