Ford will extend the warranty and update software for the MyFord Touch infotainment system. The latest software will be available from 10 December to all current system owners.

New cars are getting updated hardware, too. The original version – much slated by Consumer Reports – lacked features such as conventional buttons or knobs to control the radio and temperature.

The newest version has a new 6.5-inch touch screen, improved voice recognition and the updated software. It will be launched in spring 2013 in the 2014 Ford Fiesta.

The warranty on Ford models is now five years and six for Lincoln models.
