While Chrysler stops development of its SUV crossover, Ford’s is close to being ready.
J Mays, Ford group vice president of design, told WardsAuto.com that the production version of the car will look nearly identical to the Fairlane concept shown at the 2005 Detroit motor show.
The new car will not be called Fairlane and will replace the Freestar minivan, which ceases production in Canada this year.
Code-named D471, the new car will be built at Ford’s Oakville, Ontario plant, alongside a Lincoln derivative code-named D472.
The cars will go into production in 2008 as 2009 model year vehicles.
