Citroen’s C-segment C4 hatchback is making a surprise appearance at the Los Angeles motor show this week.

But the brand – last officially sold in the States in the early 1980s and still enjoying an enthusiast following – isn’t making a comeback.

Instead, the C4 is appearing on a Solutia Automotive stand showcasing what the company calls “the future in automotive glass”.

The display car with so-called “concept glass” will make a claimed “exclusive US appearance” on 5 January outside the media lounge in the Los Angeles Convention Centre, with roof glass especially designed for the show.

Solutia said it would be the only appearance of this particular vehicle in the United States.
