Chrysler is extending its US market powertrain warranty from the current three-year/36,000-mile ‘basic limited warranty’ to a new ‘lifetime powertrain warranty’ but there are some conditions attached.

It became effective for most new Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles delivered on or after 26 July but only if bought from dealer stock.

The warranty covers the cost of all parts and labour needed to repair covered powertrain components – engine, transmission and drive system but is limited to the first registered owner or retail lessee.

To continue warranty coverage, the owner must have a powertrain inspection performed – at no cost – by an authorised dealer once every five years.
