Chrysler has announced that a voluntary recall of an estimated 145,099 model year 2006 Dodge Ram 1500 light duty pickup trucks to replace the passenger airbag pack and re-program the air bag’s computer (Occupant Restraint Control module). The passenger airbag may not be compatible with a limited number of rear-facing child seat models if the passenger seat is in the full forward position and an airbag deployment occurs.
Chrysler Group will also replace the front passenger seat belt assembly in the same 145,099 MY2006 Dodge Ram 1500 vehicles, plus an additional 15,151 units from the same model year. The front passenger seat belt assembly may not allow the owner to properly secure a limited number of child restraint systems.
There are no reports of injuries.
In a separate action, Chrysler Group will voluntarily recall an estimated 35,103 model year 2001-2003 Dodge Durango vehicles to inspect the console wiring connector for corrosion or contamination, clean as necessary and cap the connector. The affected vehicles are equipped with the 40/20/40 front bench seat. In these vehicles, if liquid is spilled from the cup holder onto the console wiring connector, this could result in a high resistance short circuit with the potential for fires. The Company is aware of a total of sixteen vehicles with reports that may be related to this condition. There are no reports of accident or injuries.
