Ford has lured the group vice president of Toyota’s US Lexus division, Jim Farley, away to be its first chief marketing officer.

According to the Detroit News, which confirmed the not officially announced appointment with an unnamed Ford official, the move fills one of the top two marketing jobs open at Ford as the automaker continues to search for a new group vice president for sales, marketing and service for North America.

Chrysler earlier recruited two other respected Toyota US executives: Jim Press, North American president, and Deborah Wahl Meyer, vice president of marketing at Lexus division.

The Detroit News said Farley is credited with the successful launch of Toyota’s youth brand, Scion, and also has a reputation for treating dealers like customers.
