Skoda has announced an expansion of its operations in Ukraine.

The Eurocar assembly plant in Solomonovo started assembling Skoda vehicles in 2002 on an SKD basis, and Eurocar has recently installed a new shop to assemble cars from what Skoda terms Medium Knocked Down (MKD) kits.

The new assembly shop was officially opened today.

The assembly area has been expanded by 17,000 square metres and an additional 8,000 square metres of logistical space has been added. Total production capcity is now 45,000 vehicles a year.

The Solomonovo plant assembles a range of models, including the first and second generation Octavia, the Fabia and the Superb. Some Volkswagen and Audi vehicles are also assembled.
