Just 200,000-240,000 new cars will be sold in Ukraine this year according to the local importers’ association.
The Director General of the Ukrainian Association of Car Importers and Dealers Oleh Nazarenko said that he believed the Ukrainian market had now bottomed.
“Some 50,000-60,000 new cars were sold every month last year, but in March 2009, car traders sold around 14,000 cars. In all, 200,000-240,000 new vehicles will be sold this year,” he said.
The Ukrainian National News Agency said that some industry forecasts were even more pessimistic at under 200,000 units.
In 2008 the sale of new cars grew in Ukraine by 14.9% to 623,250 units.
