GM’s British arm – Vauxhall – warned Thursday (12/10/00) that both manufacturing and marketing costs would have to be cut to offset price reductions, writes the UK’s Financial Times (12/10/00).

The auto-maker – which announced Thursday (12/10/00) a 12 per cent price cut in its model range – said measures would be accelerated to improve productivity at its main UK manufacturing sites in Luton, Bedfordshire and Ellesmere Port, Merseyside.

The announcements come on the back of GM recording a $181m (£124m) loss for the third quarter of this year in its European operations, says the report.
