“With research showing that around half of all new car buyers will happily spend thousands of pounds on a new motor without ever driving it, Vauxhall has decided to give buyers the chance to see how a car really performs in people’s everyday lives with a three-day test drive,” the company said.
The initiative, which starts on Friday 1 April and will last for three months, is part of what GM Europe claims is “the biggest test drive programme the world has ever seen”, with 54,000 drivers expected to take part in the UK alone. Across Europe around 35,000 test cars will be made available in 40 European countries, and a total of more than a million miles are expected to be driven by potential customers in the three month campaign.
In the UK, Vauxhall retailers have an extra 2,300 cars ready to cater for the extra demand. Models across the range are on offer but, as usual with such promotions, unspecified certain “conditions apply” with regards to drivers eligible to take part in the promotion.
Vauxhall’s commercial van retailers will also be taking part in the sales initiative, and the whole of the commercial vehicle range will be available.
