Used vehicle sales in the United Kingdon for the first half of the year have increased significantly compared with the same period in 2002, according to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

The used vehicle market, encompassing just about anything with wheels this side of railway locomotives by the SMMT’s definition, was up 6.9% to 2,309,440 units in the second quarter while used car sales rose 6.4% year on year to 1,955,398 units.
Year-to-date used car sales rose 10.8% from 3,534,246 units to 3,916,738.
Used light commercial vehicle sales grew 7% to 196,487 units and used heavy commercial vehicle sales rose 12.2% year on year to 21,202 units for the quarter.
