The used vehicle market, encompassing just about anything with wheels this side of railway locomotives by the SMMT’s definition, was up 6.9% to 2,309,440 units in the second quarter while used car sales rose 6.4% year on year to 1,955,398 units.

Year-to-date used car sales rose 10.8% from 3,534,246 units to 3,916,738.

Used light commercial vehicle sales grew 7% to 196,487 units and used heavy commercial vehicle sales rose 12.2% year on year to 21,202 units for the quarter.
