Yet another PSA turbodiesel has found its way into a rival automaker’s model.
In this case it’s Suzuki’s SX4 sport crossover range, itself a European joint venture with Fiat.
PSA’s new 90PS 1.6 engine, branded DdiS (Peugeot calls it HDi) supplements the existing Fiat-made 120PS 1.9-litre turbodiesel. It’s combined with a five-speed manual gearbox and ‘official’ EC combined cycle fuel economy is 53.3mpg with CO2 emissions of 139 g/km.
Equipment levels on the UK market are similar to the petrol SX4 1.6 GL plus manual air conditioning, heated door mirrors, 16 inch alloys, roof rails, front fogs and wheelarch extensions.
PSA engines are jointly developed and built with Ford and also shared with BMW’s Mini.
