Following the collapse of the MG Rover Group, Stadco is working closely with XPartCaterpillar to secure the supply and manufacturing routes required to continue producing body components for all MG and Rover models.

These spare parts are essential to keep accident-damaged vehicles on the road.

Stadco is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of body-in-white panels and pressings to vehicle manufacturers including Ford, BMW, Jaguar, Land Rover, and previously the MG Rover Group.  As such, XPart, a division of Caterpillar Services (UK) Ltd, which acquired the MG Rover Parts Business in August 2004 has recognisesd that Stadco is an ideal partner to help secure and establish the necessary production equipment and processes needed to manufacture MG Rover body spare parts.

Commenting on the company’s commitment to making body parts available to the aftermarket and help customers of MG Rover keep their vehicles on the road, Andrew Morriss, Stadco Managing Director said:  “We are working hard with XPart to establish a sustainable spare part supply chain and hope that this announcement will go some way to ease the minds of both existing MG Rover drivers and the insurance industry that a supply of critical body parts will be available for the foreseeable future.”

John Parkinson, Chairman of XPart, added: “Whilst we have been able to maintain the highest levels of availability of MG Rover parts following Administration, this announcement with Stadco, one of our key suppliers, allows XPart to secure highest quality genuine parts for our customers.

“Fortifying relationships with key XPart suppliers, such as Stadco, will ensure that a full line of genuine parts for MG and Rover vehicles will remain available well into the future.”

Following the recent announcement that it is to potentially close its Holbrooks Lane, Coventry, plant (which undertook much of the work for the MG Rover Group) by mid-2006, Stadco says that it can manufacture the spare parts at its other major sites in the UK.

Stadco has six remaining manufacturing sites, five in the UK and one in Germany.
