Partners from accountants and business advisers PKF (UK) have been appointed joint administrators to Blackpool Automotive, one of the last remaining British sports car manufacturers.

The company has been producing the TVR range of sports cars from the Fylde Coast since 1947 and has approximately 250 employees.

It has been undergoing a restructuring process since production ceased in August 2006.

In a joint statement, administrators Kerry Bailey, Matthew Gibson and Philip Long, said:  “It is our intention to advertise the business for sale as a going concern and we are optimistic that a purchaser will be found in the New Year.”

TVR stopped production at its Blackpool factory last November, saying it would ousource production to unspecified locations in Europe.
