The RMI is advising affected vehicle testing stations to find alternative equipment suppliers so they can continue to carry out emissions testing.
The RMI says vehicle testing stations will also need a new supplier to check equipment to enable certificates of conformity – which have to be returned to the Vehicle Inspectorate by 30 September 2002 – to be signed.
Additionally, vehicle testing stations must have basic emissions test (BET) software installed by 31 December 2002.
Vehicle testing stations are also being advised that if equipment has been updated by Linkay Systems the software may not, in some cases, be compatible with software issued by the equipment manufacturer or its authorised service agent.
The Garage Equipment Association has told the RMI that it can supply details of alternative suppliers.
