After announcing UK pricing for its Kangoo Van Z.E. and Twizy in recent months, Renault has now stickered the Fluence ZE – billed ‘the UK’s most affordable electric car’.

The five-seat, four-door sedan will be launched in 2012 but the automaker is accepting pre-reservations for it online. It said the price, after government grant, undercuts every other electric car in the UK as well as comparably-sized diesel cars.

There is a separate battery lease contract from £75 per month. Additional mileage and contract length details will be announced later.

Electric car competition includes the GBP23,990 Mitsubishi i-Mi-EV and alliance partner Nissan’s GBP25,990 Leaf (both priced with the GBP5,000 grant deducted).

Range is up to 115 miles, depending on driving and road conditions, Renault said.
