UK car production picked up in the three months through March, rising a seasonally adjusted 2.2% on the previous three months, data issued Monday by the National Statistics office showed.
Export production lead the way higher, rising 6.9% on the previous three months and more than offsetting the 1.8% fall in domestic production.
Total car production was down 5.2% on the same period a year ago.
Total commercial vehicle production was down 10.4% on the previous three months and 2.4% down on the same period a year earlier.
