Following an announcement coinciding with the UK commercial vehicle show earlier this year that the two companies were in discussions, the local Nissan unit has now signed an official sales and service agreement with Volvo Trucks.
As part of the deal, eight Volvo truck and bus centres have now formally become part of the Nissan commercial vehicle dealer network (NCVDN) and will soon be able to sell and carry out service, repair and warranty work on Nissan’s smaller Interstar and Cabstar light truck models.
Targeting their heavy commercial vehicle customers and prospects, the Volvo truck and bus centres will complement Nissan’s existing commercial vehicle dealers which are primarily focused on local businesses and small fleet opportunities.
“These appointments are a critical part of Nissan’s strategy in which it plans to significantly increase its Interstar and Cabstar sales volumes over the coming years,” Nissan said.
Managing director Gary Frigo added: “Nissan is focusing on its global LCV strategy. The addition of the Volvo truck and bus centres signifies our dedication and commitment to the CV business and our real intention to grow our LCV volume dramatically between now and 2010.”
