Nissan’s updated European-specification Juke is now in production at its Sunderland plant in north east England.

Nissan claims the Juke is the top selling B-segment crossover in Europe, with over 540,000 Jukes produced here in the UK since 2010. It spent GBP20m (US$34m) at Sunderland to build the updated model which has styling and design changes, new engines and technologies plus new personalisation options.

The automaker said local production of the Juke, Leaf, recently redesigned Note and Qashqai in Sunderland accounts for a GBP800m investment to date while supporting about 38,000 UK automotive jobs.

Expecting a third year of 500,000 output, Nissan is hiring 50 new maintenance technicians for the vehicle, powertrain and battery facilities.
