Nissan Sunderland plant’s vice president, manufacturing (UK), Trevor Mann, has been promoted to senior vice president, manufacturing, purchasing and supply chain management for Nissan Europe, with effect from 1 April.

In addition to his new role, Mann will maintain his current responsibilities as head of Sunderland plant.  As SVP, he will oversee all manufacturing operations across Europe, including Sunderland and its sister plant in Barcelona, as well as the new plant in St Petersburg, Russia.  He will also oversee European purchasing and supply chain operations.

Mann replaces Colin Dodge, who leaves Sunderland to take up his new position as senior vice president, general overseas markets and global information systems, announced a few days ago. Dodge will also serve on the Nissan executive committee in Japan.

Mann joined Nissan’s Sunderland plant in 1985 as one of the first employees, working as a team leader in trim and final assembly line. He rose rapidly through the company before being appointed deputy managing director in 2004, and took up the role of vice president of manufacturing (UK) in 2006.

He said: “I’m looking forward to my new responsibilities for the European region in what is a very challenging time for the car industry.”
