Bentley has agreed a deal with UK hi-fi specialist Naim Audio to produce sound systems for all future models.

The Volkswagen-owned luxury car maker and Naim worked for 18 months to develop the new system, which is tuned for each model using acoustic analysis.

Each has an 1100-watt amplifier – claimed to be the world’s most powerful production unit fitted in a car – and, depending on model, up to 15 speakers with drive units specifically designed for the vehicles.

Bentley also claims to be the first car manufacturer to use a next-generation digital signal processor (DSP) in its audio system.

The systems are branded ‘Naim for Bentley’.

“The… sound system delivers the world’s ultimate in-car audio experience – allowing for ‘as-live’ audio entertainment that is as pure as the driving experience itself,” gushed Bentley chairman and CEO Franz-Josef Paefgen in a statement.

Founded in 1969, Salisbury, Wilshire-based Naim has gained a reputation amongst audiophiles for producing high quality, hand-built home audio system amplifiers.

Bentley said the market for premium audio in its ultra-luxury automobile sector had evolved markedly in recent years, with many automakers offering systems developed with a partner brand from the specialist audio industry.
