UK engine output in March rose 0.3% year on year to 230,634 units with the SMMY describing year to date output as “stable”.

It was a positive month for British engine exports with overall demand up by 2.7%.

“Engine manufacturing has seen a stable first quarter and the outlook for the sector is very positive,” said Mike Hawes, SMMT chief executive.

“UK manufacturers have committed major investments into building the next generation of low emission Euro-6 engines and, with these set to come to fruition this year, we expect output to accelerate in the coming months.”
