Magna Steyr is to build Aston Martin’s four-door Rapide saloon at a dedicated facility in Graz in Austria.
Production is expected to begin in late 2009 with around 2000 cars being built annually.
“The decision to outsource production of this incremental model has been taken because Aston Martin is currently enjoying unprecedented levels of success from an increasing number of markets around the world,” the maker of specialist sports cars said in a statement.
Demand for current models has taken its Gaydon, Warwickshire, plant in the UK close to its 8,000-unit capacity.
The Rapide was launched as a concept at the Detroit show in 2006. Aston Martin said it considered a number of companies before selecting Magna Steyr.

The design of the Rapide plant within the Magna Steyr facility in Graz will be based on Gaydon and the engine plant in Cologne.
Corporate identity touches will include a travertine marble reception area and branded work wear for employees.
Magna Steyr recently lost the contracts to build Chrysler minivans (now made in the US). BMW will also shift the next X3 SUV from Graz to its own facility in the US.
On the other hand, Graz will soon gain a new Mini sports activity model.
