Jaguar Land Rover’s new two litre, four cylinder, Ingenium diesel engine, built in a new, 450,000 unit capacity factory in Wolverhampton, is to become available in the Discovery Sport line which recently replaced the Freelander.
The EU6 compliant engine will be available with two power outputs – 150PS and 180PS – delivering fuel economy of up to 57.7mpg (4.9l/100km) and CO2 emissions from 129g/km.
The new engine will replace the current PSA-Ford joint venture 2.2 diesel in EU6 markets. That powerplant was offered in 150PS TD4 or 190PS SD4 specification with fuel efficiency of up to 50.2mpg.
Initially, the Ingenium engine will be available to order in Europe and South Korea from May 2015.
