Iveco has launched a gas-powered Iveco Daily City Truck, the second generation of gas-powered vehicles in the Daily range, offering EEV emission standards – an even higher standard than Euro 5.
The new models in the gas-powered range are fitted with Iveco’s 2.8 litre engine running on Compressed Natural Gas (CNG). Iveco says it is capable of producing up to 105 hp at 3,800 rev/min and developing up to 220 Nm of torque at 2,200 rev/min.
Chris Thorneycroft-Smith, Director Light Business Unit, said: “The gas-powered Daily City Truck should prove popular with companies operating in congested cities and urban areas, especially in London where it provides an opportunity to beat congestion charging.
“We’ve already taken orders from a number of London municipalities and are expecting strong interest from parcel carriers and home delivery firms too,” he added.
The new models are being built on the same production line in Suzarra, Italy, which builds the standard Daily City Truck product. CNG-powered vehicles will have a range of between 150 and 170 miles, dependent on what size fuel tanks are fitted. Capacity ranges from 180 to 240 litres, with vehicle size governing what capacity tank can be fitted to each independent model.
