Elise Solutions Limited, developers of non-performance related solutions for the Lotus Elise, and Dave Minter.co.uk Limited, a performance-engineering specialist, have announced a strategic partnership to develop an I-Bar gull wing roof for the Lotus Elise.
Under the agreement Dave Minter, former Chief Engineer with Lotus Cars, will act as a consultant to Elise Solutions at all stages of the development of the project.
“Elise Solutions are unique in the current market place with their ‘I-Bar’ gull wing offering. As a solution it is ideally designed in terms of functionality and the whole project has been well thought through. I wouldn’t associate my name with it if I didn’t believe it would succeed.” said Dave Minter, Managing Director, Dave Minter.co.uk Limited.
One of the early initiatives in this agreement is a joint marketing programme for the I-Bar project, with both company Internet sites providing ongoing information on the project.
“Both companies share a common desire to produce a solution that will enhance the day-to-day use of the Lotus Elise. As a company Elise Solutions already has access to extensive aircraft and Formula 1 racing knowledge, but having Dave on board provides us with a level of expertise in relation to the Elise that nobody else could offer.” said Tigga Reese, Director, Elise Solutions Limited.

By GlobalDataThe I-Bar roof will consist of a centre “I” section and two removable gull wing roof panels. With the incorporation of the roll hoop cover into the I-Bar™ design, all variations of the Elise S2 will be able to use this solution. The panels have been designed in such a way that they can be stowed in the boot of the car.
The design concepts will be developed into prototypes and tested over the coming months, with the planned launch of the I-Bar for sale to the public in September 2002.
