Glass’s Guide for PDA, the electronic version of the company’s used car price guide developed for use on palmOne handheld computers, is now available with an integrated repair appraisal function.

Drawing information from a comprehensive paint and parts database, the enhancement allows users to produce a detailed vehicle valuation that accurately reflects the full cost of rectifying minor damage such as scratches, dents and cracked or broken lights or bumpers.

The product has been developed by EurotaxGlass’s, publishers of Glass’s Guide and the company behind the Glassmatix repair estimating system used by vehicle repairers across the UK.

A user-friendly interface has been specifically developed for those who are not experts in vehicle repair.  A typical application would be generating a part exchange valuation, where a motor dealer could quickly value a customer’s used vehicle and simultaneously assess the cost of correcting any defects, thereby safeguarding or improving profitability.

The appraisal data incorporates parts prices, labour and refinish times, paint material costs and smart repair costs. Monthly updates for vehicle values and parts and paint prices can be downloaded from a website.

The new product is claimed to include about 46% more valuation data than can be found in a typical month’s issue of the paper version of Glass’s Guide.
