BMW’s Mini sets a new UK benchmark for low levels of depreciation in the supermini sector according to Glass’s Guide which says that the retail price for a one-year-old One or Cooper with an average 8,000 miles on the clock is typically around £200 ($US300) below its original list price.

“The car has truly captured the public’s imagination and has developed a classless appeal for men and women of all ages,” said Glass’s specialist car editor Richard Crosthwaite.

“The market for the new Mini is currently well balanced, with continued high levels of demand ensuring any used cars are quickly snapped up.  There has also been virtually 100% take-up of the TLC service package – offering five years’ standard servicing for £100 – so used car buyers know it should cost them little to keep the car in good working order.

“Used buyers like the fact that it is rare to see two Minis exactly alike, thanks to the contrasting black or white roof colours of Cooper models and the wide selection of optional alloy wheels, additional chrome and decals.”
