GKN Driveline, the automotive driveline components unit of UK-based automotive supplier GKN, plans to close its plant in Florange, Lorraine region, northeastern France.

The closure of the plant, which employs 221, is part of an industrial redeployment programme, the company’s management said. The programme, which will be presented to the company’s work council on July 7, 2005, is aimed at retaining GKN Driveline’s competitiveness in France.

The programme envisages concentration of the production of automobile transmission units in the company plant in Arnage, central France.
