Ford Motor Co. and Vauxhall UK (General Motors), the U.K.’s two biggest automakers, are planning to cut U.K. car prices by selling through via the Internet, the Independent reported, citing U.K. Ford chairman Ian McAllister.
Ford’s prices would be cut by a further 5 to 8 percent, following 13 to 15 percent price reductions announced earlier this month, said the Independent. Vauxhall’s prices would drop an average 3.5 percent.

The Internet will probably only appeal to a minority of buyers, the paper cited McAllister as saying on the opening day of the British International Motor Show, in Birmingham, central England.
Ford and Vauxhall sell three in 10 cars bought in the U.K., and their move will put pressure on other manufacturers to follow suit, the paper said.
