Due to low sales, and the continued wind-down of the Lancia brand from markets outside Italy, FCA says it will phase out the Chrysler brand in the UK.
The announcement was made by FCA UK’s deputy managing director, Karl Howkins, speaking to Auto Express magazine. The news is not surprising, given the small product range and the brand’s vehicles’ relatively uncompetitive CO2 averages.
Imports of the 300C and Grand Voyager have already ceased, while the sole remaining model, the Ypsilon, will be phased out by 2017. Just 1,982 Chrysler brand vehicles were registered in the UK last year, a 21% decline compared to 2013. Last month, just 12 cars were sold, according to SMMT data.
