Europressings, a unit of steelmaker Corus, is to supply Tenneco Automotive with exhaust parts for General Motors’ German-built Opel/Vauxhall Vectra.
The South Wales company will ship five pressed parts for 250,000 exhaust units annually direct to Tenneco’s Tredegar plant where the complete exhaust system is assembled for GM.
The supplier will use fully automated progression press and robotic transfer lines.
A spokeswoman said: “We are seeing an increasing trend from automotive component manufacturers and OEM’s to outsource specialist press shop work for cosmetically or dimensionally critical parts.
We are confident that our automotive business will continue to grow and predict that by 2006 it will represent over 60% of our turnover.”
